“Persephone’s Dream” was a research performance created, directed and performed by Alana Siegel with a troupe of performers combining explorations into Japanese Noh Theater, the Eleusinian Mysteries, and the Patrons of the Orders of Husbandry. The performance lasted twelve hours, from dawn until dusk, creating a sympathetic sphere relating to the garden, hillside, and forest. Through the ceremonial aspects of each modality they experimented with how to create deeper intimacies with seasonal shifts, the species we live amongst, and our relationship to our own mortality.
Alana Siegel is a poet and director who focuses on creating deep and extended imaginative practices.
